DIGGING FOR LIFE

By Joao Queiroga

Toma Assuoe leaves his home in Cameroon for post-apartheid South Africa. Expecting to find a new El Dorado for Black Africans, he quickly realizes there is no such place; instead, he is sold into slavery by crooked Angolan police and is set to work digging for diamonds. This is an astonishing portrait of strength and resilience forged through fire.
