This panel will spotlight emerging young BIPOC filmmakers who are redefining the landscape of cinema in Halifax and beyond. Participants will share their inspirations, processes, and the fresh perspectives they bring to storytelling. The discussion will cover topics such as mentorship, accessibility in film education, and the role of youth in shaping industry trends. By showcasing their innovative works and discussing their visions for the future, this panel aims to inspire both young creators and industry veterans to foster new ideas and collaborations that uplift underrepresented voices in filmmaking.

Kyah Sparks has worked in Halifax’s media industry for over a decade. She has produced, directed and hosted hundreds of series, mini series, and segments. Kyah was raised in the African Nova Scotian communities of Preston Township and Weymouth Falls.

Temitayo is a visual storyteller using photovoice to illuminate mental health accessibility challenges. As an Art in Medicine fellow, she creates compelling visual narratives that bridge healthcare and art. With experience across Africa and internationally, Temitayo brings a unique perspective that combines health advocacy with powerful visual storytelling techniques to amplify marginalized voices.
Chanice \\\'ChaniceTv\\\' Lorde - Actress, Creative
Chanice is an actress who recently relocated to Halifax from Barbados. Her creative career began by creating skits and posting to YouTube which exposed her to the world of film and acting. After falling in love with film she then trained with various coaches which lead to her appearance in films and commercials. Chanice is excited to connect with local talent and highlight stories from other immigrants and artists!
Andre Anderson - Film Director, Community Advocate
Andre Anderson is a visionary filmmaker, storyteller, and community advocate amplifying African Nova Scotian narratives. As the founder of Anderson Films Inc., he merges storytelling with social impact, creating compelling documentaries and films that spark change. A passionate leader, he champions diversity, mental health, and youth empowerment in Canada’s creative industries.
