Set in the present day suburbs of Colorado. Marissa begins a normal work day from her home office. She receives a call from her mother, June, who gives her a good report of her father’s health and his early retirement taken in another state.

June mentions the new homeowners of their sold house back in Colorado have been unable to get into the house and that she volunteered Marissa to help them.

As this is revealed, Marissa’s doorbell rings and she instantly fears the inevitable. The new homeowners have arrived with questions and a persistence to get the answers that Marissa has been trying to hide.
